Greetings from South Africa.

The community that NEEDS our help

I live about 20 minutes away from a township called Alexandra (Alex for short) here in the Gauteng province of South Africa. You may google Alexandra, Gauteng in order to view pictures of the place. Most shacks in Alex are made of zinc material so the town gets extremely cold during our winter months, June - August. I normally dread winters in our country as there is always news on our tv screens or newspapers of children and babies getting 3rd degree burns from hot water or fires caused by candles (in case of the shacks without power). These shacks are so tiny! You will find a family with children and babies sharing just one room, including the kitchen and bedroom. They put curtains across the room in order for visitors to tell the kitchen from the bedroom. Most toilets are outside. There are no water heaters in most of these shacks so water is boiled on the stove, in a cooking pot! In the summer and warmer seasons, they cook heat the water outside but winters are too cold so some housholds boil their water inside these shacks. There is no where to keep these stoves and pots out of reach of children as there is not enough room in these shacks. Those with a bit of money buy solar heaters but they are costly! The problem with the kitchen being situtated in the same room as everything else is that children play around the stove and may tip over the pot and get burned badly...picture how intersting a pot of boiling water looks to a crawling toddler!

How YOU can help

Now, I do not not have much to give and I am not a charity organization, but this does not mean that I, 'we' rather, cannot be charitable, right? I purchased myself a fantasic mini water heater a couple of years ago and beleive that this will be very benafitial to some families during this winter season. They will be able to warm the water in bigger buckets instead of the stove. These mini water heater are of great quality (been using mine for 2 years now - at least once a day), efficient, safe and inexpensive. These will definitly decrease the amount of accidents and burns in these shacks.

I would like your help in purchasing at least 100 units of these mini water heaters before the 15th of May 2015 so that I may distribute them to at least 100 shacks with children and/or babies living in them. I bought my unit for about 35 US$, but the guy I bought it from; his website is http://www.minigezaguy.co.za will sell me 100 units at a retail price of 27 US$ each! You may also see how the Mini Water heaters work on the above YouTube video from the supplier. This will bring so much joy and smiles on people's faces.

Warmer winter for Alex

My husband and I plan on distributing them to 100 shacks with children and/or babies living in them on the last week of May 2015, in prepartation for our winter season starting end May beginning June 2015.

If you donate 27 US$; know that you are blessing one household with hot water during this winter, and beyond as these may be used in our autum, spring and summer months - I am just more concerned about our winter months. Feel free to donate as much as your heart leads you to donate. I will upload pictures after our distribution with videos of gratitude from our receipits.

I thank you very much for your support and I am looking forward to carrying this project forward till the end...who knows? If this goes well them we will do it again - maybe more units next year! :-)
