Freddys Cathouse Association is a registered , non profit , Spanish charity caring for street cats on the Island of Lanzarote. (Fiscal identification number : G76341940)
We have a number of feeding stations in various parts of the Island, a proactive TNR program, established links with several veterinary practices and the support and collaboration of the Ayuntamiento de Yazia, to control and protect the street cat population within that jurisdiction.
The charity recently took ownership of a permanent shelter where street cats from the Island can be cared for.
It is called Dreamland for Cats.
Currently there are over 85 street cats there.
To improve the level of care Dreamland can offer, the charity need to fund a number of projects.
Security: A perimeter wall has been constructed to keep our cats safe from dogs and ensure they stay within the grounds of the shelter. This was an expensive but necessary task.
Outside pens and living areas: There is a need to increase the amount of safe and comfortable facilities within the grounds of the shelter for our cats to rest, play, feed and sleep in.
Isolation Room: There is a suitable building within the shelter but it needs to be refreshed and modified so that sick or injured cats can be treated in hygienic, isolated conditions.
The Wee Kitten Room: A firm favourite with visitors to Dreamland, this part of the shelter is exclusively for abandoned kittens. It provides the care and protection they need to thrive in a healthy and protective environment. Further work will significantly enhance the living areas and the ability of the charity to offer the specialist provision often needed.
Please consider making a donation to help us maintain our feeding stations in the resorts and hotels of the Island, as well as making Dreamland for Cats a true paradise and Forever Home for sick and abandoned street cats.
Please visit our Facebook page (See link) where you will see many pictures and posts showing our volunteers at work and ,of coarse, our cats. You will also find more information about Freddy, our founding President, and how it all began.
Thank you for your support and ,as Freddy would say, a big Meow Meow.
