Goal

To raise money for, I, Frank Lawrence, to attend Dubspot in New York City for 10 months starting May 19th, 2014.

Hi there,
My name is Frank Lawrence, I am 18 and have a very simple goal I'd like to ask for help with. My passion in life is music, more specifically dance music and other digitally produced sound. I come from a very small town under the name Centermoreland, that is often considered an even smaller part of Tunkhannock, Pennsylvannia. Its a small not so tight nit community and is an extremely difficult location to get your dreams going, especially regarding ambitions that are not so common in such a back-country place.

I have been following electronic and house music since 2008, which was right as I entered high school and still follow the scene in depth now. Even as a little kid, the songs I remember most were the ones with a synthesized bass line or lead. Since the beginning of high school it became more apparent to me of the power music has on human emotions and the motivation and feelings it can give people. With this I knew, I had to be a part of the process and produce and DJ music for people.

However, learning the techniques and skills required of such a task is not as easy as it would seem. During my 10th grade year of high school I had purchased production software as well as a Mixing Board with CDJ's and a mixing unit, it was then I had begun my journey to be a part of the music world. During my 11th grade year, I decided to transfer high schools from public to online. With the online schooling, giving me extra time to work on extra things, I was able to take some classes about music production and Djing from DUBSPOT; a New York based technical school focused on Electronic music and Djing. While taking the courses I understood the basics and foundation of what my future could hold. After high school graduation, I knew that I had to continue and pursue DUBSPOT except this time, in person.

That's why I need your help. I cannot afford to stay in the Big Apple of New York and attend DUBSPOT the way I would truly benefit from it. I would need to stay there 10 months (starting classes in May) for me to finish what I started back during high school. I truly believe that if I can master the techniques behind producing and Djing, my sounds and music can change the world for the better. Music is a powerful force of sound that has such a heavy influence on the world and I want to make a difference.
