JTR Bowl

‘Synagonismos’ a word used by the Greeks, to describe the relationship between two opposing forces that use and teach each other how to grow and become better, more than just “friendly competition”. What we are talking about is development, passion and striving for the best, this word does not exist in the English language. This project is based in this ideology. A safe space to express the art of skate freely, to meet others like minded and help each other reach the top.

This project was a simple dream, experienced by different people at the same time.

Coming together to share such a dream on an island so small, with in a community so tight yet only mildly supportive, has become a challenge for the first four dreamers.

We encourage any one who is also a dreamer or a lover of skate to step into our shared dream and come help by any means possible, we don’t want just your cash, we want your sweat and your hands, but most of all we want your heart or what the Greeks call ‘Meraki’ we want to share with our growing community the love of sport, the love of building, designing, and the possibility to truly realize the meaning of ‘Synagonismos’.

Together we can make each other better.

The local government does not recognize or take skateboarding seriously, DIY parks have been our solution for a long time here on Santorini. Our forefathers (the creators of the Santorini Camping Mini Ramp) have done everything in their power to create a safe space for the skate community to flourish, with money from their own pockets and tears from their mother’s eyes, they built us a space worthy of true hammers, they gave a home to lost humans, and birthed many passionate skaters.

As the new generation we owe our community (and forefathers) the work and the dream of a new location with out threats of being destroyed, we owe not a revamp to the old location but a new play pen for the community of skate with in Greece and the world.

we would like to build this bowl from wood, in a privately owned field (thus preventing the government from removing or destroying this project) just inside the lines of Kamari Village on the Island of Santorini (Thira) Greece.

We ask for any help possible, some spare change, donated materials, time and sweat are also currency we speak the language of.

Together we can make our dream, reality.

The amount shown is the estimated amount this project will cost with locally sourced materials.

All labour being strictly volunteer only.
