A-LONEliness project – photo exhibition to raise awareness about loneliness

A-LONEliness is a storytelling project aimed to raise awareness and start a conversation about loneliness - the state mostly associated with elderly people, or those physically isolated. In reality, we are all affected to a different extend, and loneliness doesn’t have a particular age or face.

Personal stories and close-up portraits of people from different countries break this taboo and start a conversation about experiencing and overcoming the state of loneliness.

This project started from the very personal reason to share my own story and connect with people who had experienced the same feeling.
All the stories were collected through interviews on the topic and will be shared on dedicated to the project web page. To draw attention and create an impact, we plan to make an exhibition of these black and white portraits of the interviewees.

Who am I?
My name is Kristina, and I’m a volunteer from Latvia who decided to combine her passion for photography and personal experience of loneliness in meaningful personal conversations.

Who are we?
We are Smokinya Foundation, an NGO that serves as a learning platform for individuals who are ready to commit to their own learning and development needs.

In order for this project to happen we want to make an exhibition and we are raising money to rent a space, to print the images, and to prepare the rest of the materials and the webpage.
