Remedios Balisi Guzman, Miding, Remy, and Mama Ding to us grandkids and great-grandkids.

She has always been our foundation and strength eversince Papa Alu (our grandfather) has left us in 1995.

The whole family including distant relatives and friends have always been going to her in times of difficulties. She only had 3 girls but that did not stop her from providing education and help to the rest of those who needed it.

She gave the last cent from her wallet even if it meant nothing is left for her. Her being as selfless as she is made us look up to her and follow her lead. We would be surprised that someone would come to our family house and tell stories of how Mama Ding has provided for them when they had nothing and now they have survived and is doing well.

Since her last fall in 2014 and she had a hip replacement, it did not stop her from fighting on with life. Though she was limited to not walking on her own she still made herself active to the best of her abilities. She continued to thrive and see the rest of her great-grandkids.

Last, August 25, she had to be brought to the hospital as she has been feeling weak and had difficulty in breathing. She was diagnosed with heart failure and pneumonia. And that is where the rest of the complications came in. For all the medications that was given to her, some of them were to strong for her that she became weaker as days goes by. We originally decided to just bring her home and take care of her from there. But we were devastated when the doctor told us that it's only 10% of her kidneys that are working. It became more complicated to manage her as the doctors has to consider whether the medications which will be prescribed does not affect her lungs, heart and kidneys.

Our family decided not to do dialysis for her, as it might add more complications for her. Last week, her appetite has declined that she has to be given TPN (Total Parenteral Nutrition) as her electrolytes has dropped drastically.

This has been a challenging time for our family and the only thing we can give her is the comfort and medical interventions that she needs. As her medical expenses are rising, we are finding ways to support her. We know that she is fighting and we would want to fight with her.

We are then asking the help of all of you that she has touched your lives in one way or another, to support her fight with her.
