Whoa, hey guys. My name's Tyler Miller. (scroll down to bold text to skip backstory)

Earlier this year I was arrested at my home without a warrant on suspicion of committing acts of vandalism (graffiti) in the city of Lake Worth. In March, as part of a plea deal, I plead guilty to all 6 counts of "First-Degree Misdemeanor Criminal Mischief, greater than $200 but less than $1,000". I avoided incarceration on condition that I go on probation.

Less than 40 days after I began probation, I was given a random drug test and came up positive for THC, despite having not smoked weed since agreeing to the terms of probation. Some probation officers let you slide if you fail your first drug test; mine didn't. A few days later I passed an unexpected drug test for a job I was applying to without any aid or preparation.

The judge didn't care and I was ultimately sentenced to 6 months of house arrest, adding more than a thousand dollars to my legal fees. Consequently, I also lost my awesome factory job.

______________________________________________________________________________________

Now I'm more than $8,000 in the hole, unemployed and unlikely to find gainful employment anytime soon, the sole income earner of a poor working-class family consisting of myself, my grandma and my little brother.

I'm willing to accept the consequences of my actions; I'm not willing to condemn my family to financial destitution and possibly homelessness because we have a broken legal system that shamelessly emphasizes punitive financial fees over genuine rehabilitative efforts. I was going to keep my head down, work hard, pay all my fees and meet all my obligations; but losing my job had made that a non-option, so here I am.

In the event that I'm arrested despite my best efforts, any and all money received through this campaign will be given to my family to help them remain stable and not-homeless until I'm free and working again.

Transparency Stuff

I know I'm asking for a lot of money here. Here's a breakdown of what I need and why I need it:

House arrest application fee: $164

House arrest weekly fee: $50 per week for six months, total of $1,200

Landline phone bill required for house arrest: $57 per month for six months, total of $342

Probation appointment monthly fee: $50 for 18 months, total of $900

Cost of prosecution: $323 per case for six cases, plus $323 for violation of probation, total of $2,261

Court-ordered mental health evaluation: $150

Additionally, I'm asking for $1,000 for miscellaneous fees including random drug testing ($30 per test), unexpected legal fees and court-ordered restitution which is TBD.

If you want more details about my case, it's as easy as using Google. I encourage you to inform yourself before you decide whether or not to give me money.

Additional Comments

The actions of which I was accused and plead guilty to were politically informed. This campaign should be too. So here's some information I consider relevant and important.

Palm Beach County is home to large numbers of undocumented immigrants and is a major center for the human rights abuses perpetrated by ICE- a modern Gestapo. The Palm Beach Sheriff's Office is a heavily militarized police force known widely for its brutality, corruption and poor record on human rights. PBSO and ICE work closely with one another to terrorize immigrant and minority communities, and tow the Trump administration's line on waging a war on illegal immigration.

The Home Stretch: 2 Months Left, Last $2000 needed

Update posted by Tyler Miller at 07:20 pm

My fundraiser's almost 50% funded and I'm now on my last 2 months of probation. The initial goal set, around $6,000, was the maximum possible amount that I could need to pay off all my legal debts, but now, with only two months left of probation (ending in September), having. . . . .

Almost At The 25% Mark!

Update posted by Tyler Miller at 12:08 am

Now almost 1/4 of the way to fully funded! I think that warrants an update. My probation is far from over, but I'm now 2/3 of the way through house arrest, which is the really rough part. If it wasn't for these donations, I'd already be in jail. These last few. . . . .
