My name is Katie Longhurst and I am a secondary school Maths teacher. In 2009 I visited Kenya for the second time and had the pleasure of staying with a truly inspirational man and his family. Pastor Robert Nyamwange lives in a small village called Keumbu which is in the rural western part of Kenya. He is the local Priest, his wife Mama Terrivinah is the headmistress at The Emmanuel Lights Academy (the local primary school) and together they take in orphans off the streets, feed them, house them, give them an education and an opportunity in life that they would otherwise not have had. Since my initial visit in 2009, Pastor Robert has opened up his home, now called the Keumbu Rehema Children's Home to more than 50 orphans who have been abandoned, orphaned and abused. Sadly, Pastor Robert and his wife can only provide education for them until they finish primary school.

Pastor Robert relies on donations and sponsors to send the children to Secondary school when they graduate from Primary school. Meir and Daisy have not long graduated Secondary school with distinctions and are looking to fund their University courses in Forensic Studies and Procurement and Chain supplies.

Altogether to cover fees, travel, accommodation and supplies the girls will need $3000 per year. In order to raise awareness and hopefully funds for the girls, Pastor Robert will be walking 400 miles, starting from his home in Keumbu on 1st May. More details on the route he will be taking will be uploaded to this page.

Thank you in advance for your generosity; any donation, no matter how small, will be a huge help.
