Campaign Story
Many people think that stag hunting was banned when the Hunting Act (2004) made the chasing and killing of wild mammals with dogs illegal. Alas, it hasn't quite worked out like that. Stag hunters in the Westcountry have reinvented their blood 'sport' with subtle differences that allow them to exploit loopholes and circumvent the law.
Local people from the Quantock Hills in Somerset contacted Hounds Off in Spring 2018 and asked for their help. They were outraged and desperate in the face of bullying and continued acts of barbarous cruelty inflicted on hunted deer.
Consequently, Hounds Off have deployed a team of volunteer Hunt Monitors to consistently document the shocking reality of modern day stag hunting with dogs. Conditions are remote, difficult and dangerous. Hounds Off also work with local land owners, stakeholders and residents to enforce hunting bans and restrictions which are frequently ignored.
Hounds Off can only deliver their services with public support. Whilst they claim nothing in terms of time, the cost of fuel and equipment needs to be met. This is why I'll be running the Plympton 10K for Hounds Off, to support their vital work.

A very sad state of affairs when we cannot rely on those whose role it is to uphold the law of this land.
