From "Drummer" to Great Britain "Paddler" my journey to the World Championships 2019
My Story:-
I am 14 years old and in the last six years i have gone from being a "drummer" in my local Dragon Boat team to a "Paddler" in the Under 18's Great Britain Squad. In August this year your funding took me to Berlin where i took part in the European Dragon Boat Championships and returned home with three bronze medals from the women's 500m, mixed 500m and mixed 200m. We travelled by coach, singing and laughing all the way there and back! Our coaches mainly slept! Not only was this trip an amazing adventure it has changed the course of my life and once i have done my GCSE's I would like to apply to universities to do a degree in Physiotherapy. The sport has taught me discipline and dedication, as well as becoming healthier through regular exercise.
This trip would not have happened had it not been for your generous donations and i hope you can see how valuable your support is.
Next year see's the "World Dragon Boat Championships" an even bigger event taking place in Thailand and i have been fortunate to be asked to start training again with the British National Training Squad to see if I'm good enough to get a place in the boat.
This time we would like to offer something in return for your donations as i am really keen to get other young people into this sport and highlight to the local authorities how important it is for them to invest more money in sports for children like me.
