Help Dave start Greenman Nurseries!!

I'm Dave. I'm from Cork Like ! – purple hoody aficionado, avid satirical t-shirt wearer, bit of a nerd, and I love plants. Ever since I was introduced to the world of horticulture, I've quickly become obsessed. I live and breathe plants, Literally exhaling carbon dioxide on a daily basis to help feed my leafy friends,

Seriously though. With a background in horticulture, Tree surgery, carpentry, and working as a horticulturalist in a plant nursery in Cork, I've become completely immersed in the Irish commercial plant world. And disappointed with the poor choice in alot of garden centres, So really, there is only one way forward: I'm going to start my own plant nursery. With an emphasis on diversity, and lesser known species of trees, shrubs, fruit and more, which are perfect for growing in Ireland,

I've already done a lot of the work in recent years. such as building up an impressive amount of stock plants (parent plants to grow more from). I have access to land to build a tunnel on. And a solid business plan. But there’s just a few things that need to be acquired for it all to fall into place. And for that, I need a little help from you.

WHAT’S THE PLAN?

The plan is to start Greenman Nurseries in West Cork, Ireland, Growing anything from native Irish tree species, to a selection of rare, unusual and underappreciated trees and shrubs, selling them at local and national plant shows, farmers markets and a small selection online initially, possibly expanding to a seasonally open nursery.

WHAT DO WE ALREADY HAVE?

- a place to grow and work from.

- a small selection of growing stock (parent plants);

- a great potential for customers: including many local markets and shows throughout Ireland;

WHAT DO WE NEED?

- A polytunnel (€1500)

- A supply of plant pots, compost, plug trays and other growing needs (€ 2000)

*UPDATE* Thanks to this campaign, I'm up to my ears in pots and compost at the moment, there's more than enough to keep me going for the next year or so, though if anyone has larger pots (4ltr+) i'd be happy to sterilize them and reuse them.

- Seeds and stock plants (€1400)

- Labelling facilities and other administrative software/hardware (€600)

- Insurance, registration costs etc (€500)

WHAT DO YOU GET?

- If you decide to be a part of My dream, have a look at the rewards section to see how you can contribute - and what you’ll get in return.

*UPDATE* for the remainder of the campaign i'll be offering like for like in return of donations for plants, i have a selection of plants currently available on my Availability list which you can view here

Also to the person who provides the highest donation, I have a handmade by me side table made from Beech and Hazel,
