Update: 12-27-2017 / 27-12-2017

We're safe for now but still shy of our goal amount by $332. I know it's hard to do with all the Christmas

stuff that was going on and now New Year's Eve. Our Christmas dinner consisted of canned meat stuff for them and the donated dry food, which they absolutely Love(d), we're in the 50lb bag donated by Roberto's Bungalows. Big THANK YOU to all who donated the food, they loved all of it...especially Chula, she's the finicky one in the pack...after she eats now, she's ready for seconds. BIG, BIG THANK YOU to all who donated the money...it saved our asses...that's a lot of asses 7 small asses and one big Ass!

Another donation from San Pancho Life...they donated money to help us reach our goal amount...and the only ones to take my offer to help with their website.

You can read about the offer here. Again, thanks to everyone! If you haven't donated yet, please consider it...especially if you have a presence online for your business...It really is an incredible deal...I have to tout my own horn because nobody else will. You'll get 20 years of experience from an SEO Professional at Expert Level for practically nothing!

These are the pups I'm taking care of at the moment. It may be for a short time, but if nobody wants them, I am committed to all of them for their entire lives.

Nautli

Nautli: This is Nautli (Nowt-Lee), the one who left us :( ...I think she did it out of Love. I'll never forget the day she left...we were all out in front of the house...I think she was telling me that she was leaving because when she started walking up the trail that goes into the jungle, I was watching her and I said "Nautli, please don't go." she stopped, turned around for one last look and then was gone and she hasn't been back since.

I needed to bring 4 dogs to the FREE Spay/Neuter clinic and it turns out that one of the dogs, Nautli, was already fixed...I can't imagine the kid who “owned” her before would have done that. Maybe she was one of the dogs Mariana took from my pueblo during the last free clinic? The kid who had Nautli before came up to me one day and asked if I wanted her and that he wanted to give her to me as a gift. She was already coming to my house and hanging out with us before he gifted her to us, The other three dogs were Preciosa, Siete and Camilla. All the dogs are now "fixed".

Siete: While Siete was having her surgery done, I noticed there was what looked like intestines on her belly and jokingly I said to my friend Mar, "is that stuff going back in"...I thought that's what they took out of the dogs when they were getting spayed. Mar replied “No, she was pregnant, didn't you know?” me: “No, I had no idea.”, I really had no idea, she wasn't showing, her boobs hadn't dropped yet, but she was pregnant with 6 puppies!

I felt bad for her, but she felt worse. The next day she was crying a lot and doing this really sad moan...she knew what had happened...they are sentient creatures. It would have been cool to see 6 little puppies running around, but way too much work!!

I've had Siete pretty much since she was a little puppy...I had to buy her from another neighbor that lives behind me with his wife and 14 year old meth head son for $500 pesos, about $25 US. When I told the mother he had sold her to me and for how much, she uttered he should have asked for $700 pesos.

I met Siete when I was in my yard with my furry housemates one day when I started to hear a lot of crying...I went to see who it was...it was Siete when she was small, she was pacing back and forth and trying to get in the door of my neighbor's house...she was trying to dig under the door but it was concrete so it wasn't going to happen. I

Siete

looked around to see if there was any food and water left for her...none! I called to her and brought her in my yard so the other dogs could check her out, then I brought her inside so she could have some food and water. I figured I would watch her until my neighbor came home...night came and no neighbor...day two came and went, day three came and went...we were all getting used to her by now. I started calling her Seven or Siete, because she was the 7th dog in the house, the Spanish version stuck.

So day 4 my neighbors finally came home, but I wasn't going to give her back at this point. They didn't ask if I had seen her and they didn't seem too upset about it either. Then after about a week with Siete, I let the dogs out in the yard, but didn't go out with them, I had some work I needed to finish. When I finally came out she was gone, then I heard her crying again, like the first day, this time she was in my neighbor's house trying to dig out so she could get back to us. I went over and let her out and picked her up, right then my neighbor's wife showed up and asked what I was doing. Me “She was crying so I let her out”, then I proceeded to get on her case for leaving for 3 days and not leaving any food and water. Her: “Negra is mine, I want her”, great name, she put a lot of thought into that one... Me: “No, you don't even care about her!” her: “I'll call the police.” me: “Go ahead, please do, so I can tell them how you left a puppy with no food, water or shelter, go ahead, here's the number.” I pulled it up on my phone and went to hand it to her so she could call...she didn't take the phone.

Finally, after much bickering back and forth with me throwing too much truth at her...I told her what they did is a federal offense. Animal abuse is now a federal offense in Mexico. I came up with an idea to solve the dilemma, I said: “You stand there, I'll stand over here, we'll put her down in the middle and call to her, whoever she comes to first gets to keep her...she didn't like that idea because she knew what would happen. I had already put Siete on the ground and she scooped her right up and started doing that goofy baby talk to her, feigning Love for her...I said ok, you take her, but if you ever leave her like that again, I'm taking her and she's staying with us...she stared at me blankly. I went back to my yard got the dogs inside and went in. About half an hour later I hear a little crying at the back door...it was her! She knew where her real home was. After about a week of the same thing, son came over and offered her to me for the $500 pesos I mentioned before...she was now officially part of the pack! :)

Camilla:Then from the same neighbors came Camilla, Their son offered to sell her, whereas before Siete, when I asked if I could adopt her, the mother said no. Camilla is about a year old mas o menos and she was a total bag of bones.

The photo to the right is right after she gave birth to two puppies. One evening I was getting dinner ready for the pack and Camilla didn't come out of the bedroom, I figured she was sleeping or didn't feel well, so I served the others and she still didn't come out...so after I gave everyone their food, I walked into my bedroom and my jaw dropped. I went to her and said: "Now I see why you couldn't come out and how nice of you to have them on my bed!".

I didn't name them right away, I think I did 7 to 10 days afterward and not much thought went into the names, Whitey and Little One...unfortunately both died a little more than a month later. Little One was feeding in the front of the house. My windows were open because it's hot outside and all of a sudden some dog barked outside and my pack naturally has to bark back, Camilla jumped up to join the fun while Little One was still feeding, when I called her and she didn't respond I walked over and her head was facing backward like an Owl...when Camilla jumped up, it snapped Little One's neck...the poor little girl was moaning slightly and was paralyzed...she slept with me that night and by morning she was gone! My heart was broken. That next day Whitey was acting sluggish, I figured he was sad that his sister died...by the next morning he wasn't moving too much and was moaning as if he were in pain...I took him to the vet and he was burning up, they immediately put him in a little tub of cold water to bring his temperature down...that evening about 9 pm, he decided to go join his sister! I was crushed! They were so active and lively one minute and the next they were gone! Camilla was heartbroken, she moped around for days.

You've now met half the pack! The others are Petey, Chula, Guantes and Pirata:

Petey: Petey is a rescue and my first. One night I went to the beach to look at the stars, I was sitting on one of the beach chairs from the restaurant right there, when along came this skinny bag of bones that I had seen around San Pancho, he curled up at my feet making sure he was touching me and went to sleep. He chose me long before I adopted him. Petey is not available for adoption.

He was fostered by several people before he came to me, I was going to foster him only for a couple weeks until he was supposed to go to this farm for rehab and socializing, but, I fell in Love with him! he's such a nice boy.

Chula: Chula was given to me from a friend. She was going to be traveling a lot and couldn't take her along. She was a sad little puppy when she came to me and her snout was too big for her head, hahaha! The picture to the left was her first night with me.

Chula Grown Up

She's all grown up now she grew into her snout and she is without a doubt the most athletic dog I have ever encountered. Her and Petey get along incredibly well. Chula is not available for adoption. :)

Guantes

Guantes: Guantes is about the same age as Chula which is about 2 1/2 to 3 years old. Guantes means Gloves in Spanish.

The photo to the left was taken at the Vet's office when he was just a little puppy, as you can see. It was before I adopted him or more like he adopted me, Petey and Chula. He lived a few doors away from me in San Pancho.

I came home one day and usually when he would see my car he would come running to greet me, but this day he didn't. I walked out in front of my house and saw him sitting by the door of his house, I called him, he didn't move a muscle, I called him again and the same thing. As I was walking towards him I noticed he had a very loosely wrapped bandage...kind of like an ACE bandage, around his front right leg...I took it off because it wasn't doing anything, then another neighbor had told me that a car backed over his leg and nobody took him to

get checked out, so I did!

He had skin problems and parasites but luckily his leg was just badly bruised. I got the medication he needed for both conditions and for pain then we went home. I brought him over to his house and told his humans what the vet said, gave them the medications and instructions for all of them. I told them right then that I wanted to adopt him, but they didn't go for it. He started hanging out with us on his own, I wasn't going to turn him away. He was sleeping at my place most of the time at this point...eventually they kind of silently let me have him.

Pirata: Pirata is a tiny bit older than Chula and Guantes, not by much, maybe a few weeks...her humans were my neighbors in San Pancho. Petey and I have known her since she was a puppy. She was given to

me by her humans because they saw how much she Loved Petey and hanging around with us...and I think they didn't have time for her. She started killing their chickens because she was unhappy. She recently started doing it here too, but the chickens aren't mine, so I have to pay for them!

My neighbor got these "special" chickens from Texas that they use for fighting, which to me is pretty twisted. They had a bunch of "pollitos" (babies) and Pirata killed 13 of them! I now owe him $5,000 pesos for the babies that were going to get killed in a fight, just to entertain a bunch of drunk men! I think she did them a favor.

Preciosa: Some of you already know of Preciosa or Pressy as I call her a lot of the time. I got her from my next door neighbor when she was a puppy. They got her and had her outside a lot, tide to a tree with no water and would leave her out there at night while she cried and cried...I had to do something, not because she was aggravating me, but because I felt bad for this baby animal left outside in the dark, probably a bit scared and cold...so I asked them if I could adopt her, they said no but did opt to selling her to me for $2,000 pesos because she is "fina"...I think what he was trying to say is that she wasn't a mutt.

Everyone at the free clinic fell in Love with her, she's very smart, funny and housebroken!

That's all of them, and as you can imagine, 7 dogs go through a lot of food. Some types they like and others they won't touch...they deserve to eat well, just as you or I do...or at least deserve food that doesn't completely suck! They will eat the croquetas (dry food) that they don't like if I give them wet food on the side.

They just finished off the 50lb (20kg) bag of food that was donated and they liked that stuff. I bought a bag of croquetas a couple years ago by the Pet Club that none of them would touch...usually it's only 2 or 3 that won't eat certain brands, but this time none of them would touch the stuff...this is when I was minding my friend's dogs too...so there were 9 of them who would have nothing to do with this Pet Club brand. The color of the bag is a light tan and the bag is rather plain looking. So if you're ever thinking of buying The Pet Club brand because the price is cheaper than everyone else's, don't, because theirs is cheaper than everyone else's.

They go through roughly 5 kilos or more of croquetas every 3 days and 2 normal size cans per day. I usually buy their food in a tienda in La Peñita, for 5 kilos and 6 latas (cans), it costs $345, so $690 every 6 days and every 30 days $3,450...that's my rent, plus 3 days of food for them and a bit of food for me. If I have no money coming in, then it makes paying rent difficult!

I have to pay the landlord this Saturday, November 25th, 2017, only a couple days, I know...I guess I was holding out until the last minute hoping something else would happen, but I couldn't wait any longer.

Please help out if you can and remember I will be paying all of it back. I started another business that should do very well...it's based on a solid business model and we just made our first sale. If you are a pilot or if you know any pilots, check out our site. ProfessionalAviationHeadsets.com
