School fees for Randy Seda

My name is Randy Seda and I am a Bcom Accounting sciences student from the University of Pretoria. I was awarded the Golden Key Honours Society membership which is awarded to the top 15% of students in their degrees. In 2016 placed 12th out of 283 students in my residence as well as winning the Gauteng league basketball championship that year. In 2018 I served as Vice-chairperson in my residence.

I do not have permanent residency in South Africa and therefore qualify as an international student so obtaining bursaries, grants and scholarships are very difficult since the prerequisite was that you must be a South African citizen.

In 2017 my mother had a stroke that caused a loss of speech and temporary paralysis of the right-hand side of her body. Now, this meant that she couldn’t work as she had to recover and led to me starting a crowdfunding page, and with the help of Angel network and Key sponsors, we managed to raise R180 000 to clear my historical debt.

During the year of 2018, I was able to study but I had to work part-time doing numerous jobs to cover transport and basic living expenses as well as help financially at home. This caused a lot of strain on my academics as I had to spend a certain part of my attention on work and away from school.

In all my attempts to find funding for the year, I was not successful and my balance for the year was just increasing. This has become my last resort. I must raise a total of R137 000 which is the sum of my current year fees. I plead with you to help me further my dream to become a chartered accountant. I only must raise half of the amount to be able to register.
