Dandora is a sprawling slum, densely populated with socio economic share of problems. Among the residents are the single parents who make the propitious majority. It is located in Njiru District of Nairobi county in Kenya. The established challenges in this semi urban setting include but not limited to high poverty rate, high school drop out rate both at primary and secondary level, early marriages, pre marital pregnancy leading to fatal abortions, drug abuse, inadequate schools, high pupil teacher ratio and ultimately crime and violence over the years.Orphans and vulnerable children have become highly affected with the value do education. The introduction of free primary education in Kenya was an effort to achieve future national development and prosperity through provision of free basic education to the country's young ones. This effort has since failed to meet the intended objectives as a result of overwhelming population in our government schools versus the available government resources. This is evidenced by the increasing number of pupils and students dropping out from both primary and secondary schools in Dandora. This is attributed to by as earlier mentioned high pupil teacher ratio which compromises the school services. It is with this in mind that Springville Education Centre started its operation in the locality. Springville Education Centre has been operating in a local small premises for the last three (3) years providing adequate life skills and formal education to the local children and youths. Whereas the organization has delivered this much needed services, there has been a number of challenges and problems such as inadequate space to carry out the services, frequent interruption of water and power supply, high rate of insecurity and increasing demand for support from the increasing number of destitute. Consequently, it is on the basis of this background that I sign up for this fundraiser to help come up with ways of improving the living standards of children and youths in Dandora - especially construction of Classrooms. This is in tandem with the national goal of helping every child develop his or her potential, interest and enhance self discipline and self reliance.

Kenya ranks among the more peaceful and most prosperous of African countries. It has experienced over 50 years of peaceful and stable government. It has also seen impressive economic expansion and stable growth.

Unfortunately, not everyone benefits from the opportunities available in Kenya. While some people have a high standard of living, there are also those whose circumstances are as desperate as you would find in the most unstable and poverty-stricken of countries.
