US$0.00raised of $3,000.00 goal goal
Morgan has a unique opportunity- she was one of only 15 students selected from her school to go to the Badlands and work on an ongoing paleontology dig in cooperation with her school and the Marmarth Research Foundation. She will spend 10 days learning how to recognize where a fossil may be, how to get it out of the ground, clean it, and reconstruct fossilized creatures. She will start at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science and be met by paleontologist John Hankla and see what happens behind the scenes at a museum. She will then go to the Zerbst Ranch Site in Wyoming and work on an active dig. From there, the group goes to Marmarth, ND to work on the Marmath Foundation dig site. All digs are led by Dr Tyler Lyson with assistance from John Hankla. At the end of the trip, she will go to the Black Hills Institute of Geologic Research to see how everything comes together. The cost is all inclusive of lodging, food, and travel expenses. You can learn more about the Marmarth Foundation at http://www.mrfdigs.com . There is also a blog by John Hankla at http://lastdinos.livesci.org , and you can learn more about the Zerbst site at http://dinodisco.org
Any help you can give us is greatly appreciated.
