Campaign Story
After many, many years of battling a 1998 diagnosis of Stage 4 Hodgkin's Disease, Henry Walden was diagnosed with Throat Cancer the summer of 2014. While the chemo and radiation treatments rid his body of the cancer, they also destroyed his larynx (voice box) to the point that it was dying. On May 31, 2016, Henry underwent a laryngectomy (removal of the voice box). During his recovery, a small red esophageal puncture tube was accidentally dislodged during a routine cleaning. Although a nurse inserted the tube, it was not done properly. By the time Henry's doctors were notified, several hours had passed and the puncture hole closed to the point that the tube could not be replaced. This tube is necessary for the installation of a more permanent speech device that will make it easier for him to speak and for others to hear and understand him. Further surgery is needed to reinstall the esophageal puncture tube. Also, the radiation damage to Henry's skin is causing scar tissue to pull his stoma (the hole through which he breathes), shrinking the opening and additional surgery is needed to reopen it to the proper size.
Henry had hoped to be working part-time by now, but these further complications has made working impossible at this time. His pension and social security is not sufficient to cover the medical co-pays, medical equipment and supplies to take care of his current and upcoming surgeries and associated health needs/supplies. Henry is asking his friends and family to help once again with any support you can provide... a simple prayer, kind thought or donation if possible. Henry appreciates whatever you can do.

God is good always. I will keep you in my prayers Dear Henry. You were my favorite teacher of all time, and none could compare to you. I'm so sorry that you're going through all this. I know that you deserve better, but whatever you're going through I believe is God trying to teach you something. Keep looking up and ask God what he's trying to teach you. This donation is from me and my two children Elizabeth and John. Thank you for being such a special person in my life
