The project aims to preserve the environment while carrying out intensive, high turnover production and providing work, leadership and experience to local men and women. The Project will feature a combination of cutting edge technology and high quality efficient food production. The Projects’ aim is to assist communities, subsequently providing employment and nutrient food security to the entire Namibian population through a sustainable agriculture development using hydroponic crop faming principle. The project will be an educational and recreational resource for the wider Regional communities. local elementary schools, as well as schools for children with special needs, will take field trips to the farm to learn about farming and participate in growing and harvesting activities. The project will create a summer day-camp to offer children both an exciting way to learn about nature and where food comes from, as well as an opportunity to care for environment. Moreover, the project will introduce programs that will interest students in community service work, and bring local youth to the farm so they can experience a green space, learn about healthy living, and try their hands at growing. The project will organize local farmers and host workshops to teach local gardeners about ecological farming methods and to educate the community about the importance of sustainable food system. Okufu Hydroponic Community farming can be seen as a vital project in Namibia when considering the goal of Namibia becoming self-sustainable in fresh produce food production. The benefits to the surrounding community have also to be considered mainly due to job creation and readily available information to become self-sufficient community by growing their own food. Attempts will be made to attain the required funding to start of this project. Also once this project running efforts will be made to make the business profitable. This will therefore promote job creation in the community around the farm and further enforce the available knowledge for self-sufficiency.
