A Healthy Heart in Haiti

                  My name is Katelyn Hollis and I have answered a full time call to serve at Christian Light School in Port Au Prince, Haiti. Over the last year I have been blessed to serve the children and people of Haiti on five trips to various cities and provinces around the country. I have worked with orphanages, schools, churches, and sustainable living communities to embrace the Haitian culture and find a way to serve to empower and provide a future of hope. My trips have consisted of planning VBS programs for children of all ages, providing school supplies, putting on gospel presentations, and building and painting buildings on the mission properities and orphanages. Through these different experiences on the mission field, it has been made clear that it is time for me to make the big jump.

                  I have officially taken a position with Christian Light School to lead the Little Angels Baby Feeding program in the ravine around the community in Port Au Prince. I will be working with the mommas and babies that will be working with the school and defeating malnutrition. I hope to strengthen the program and provide guidance to expand the program to welcome more children into the school. Along with the baby feeding program, I will be serving as a nanny to the girls that are living in the orphanage. The 13 girls living in the orphanage have so much potential as women of Christ and it is my duty as His child to take my faith and lead them in their own.

                 My commitment to this organization is for one year, but I do not feel he Lord bringing me back to live on American soil anytime in the near future. Working with CLS, I will live on what I am able fundraise as I am here in the United States. The positions that I am taking are not paid. Through reaching out to my friends and family, I have asked for guidance and support but still have a long way to go. I have been selling homemade granola that I package in mason jars and am willing to ship out jars if anyone is interested in tasting! :) Nothing is ever too small! As I embark on this journey, I am in a constant state of surrender to His ultimate plan for my life. I must wait on the perfect time an when I am truly prepared. Please help my feet follow my heart that has already been captured by the beautiful country of Haiti.
