Foster Love Animal Rescue: Marni’s Birthday Fundraiser!

(Disclaimer: I just finished writing this, and then scrolled to the top and realised how long it is, but every word is worth a read. ALSO - I had to do this in USD, payment is made through PayPal and ZAR is not available at the moment and GGF has a minimum amount to raise in USD.)

As everyone knows...this year is different to all other years. COVID-19 is present in our precious world and these are unprecedented times. As most of you are aware, occasionally, I love putting on parties and doing something special for my birthday. I had plans this year to do something lovely with all my new and old friends and family, but of course, along with many other people, had to put plans on hold.

The organisation that I am asking for money for my birthday fundraiser is called Foster Love Animal Rescue (you can find them on Facebook). They do amazing work with going into communities around the Western Cape (often, those communities much less fortunate than us) and have feeding programmes for these communities as well as often take in abandoned or surrended animals from these areas where owners know that they will not be able to provide the best possible care. They ensure that these animals are taken immediately to the Vet where a check up is done to see if they are healthy and medicine given if needs be. These Vets provide huge discounts for the organisation, but unfortunately cannot do these things free of charge. Thus, they are always racking up vet bills in order to help the animals in need.

Since Lockdown (26 March), I have been fortunate enough to foster a family of 4 kitties (a mom and 3 babies) and although I am unable to keep them - they have all found their furever home through Foster Love Animal Rescue! I have not had cats before and this experience was just so incredible and so heart warming. I have had regular Zoom calls with my colleagues showcasing how adorable the babies are and how they play, as well as picked up the most amount of poop I have ever seen and ensuring they are well-fed and go to bed happy, loved, cared for and with full tummies.

I would love the chance to be able to give something to this organisation that gave me the opportunity to have this experience. Now, more than ever, I know we are all watching out pockets as many around us are losing their jobs, taking salary cuts, and other similar issues. However, at the same time, more than ever charities and organisations like this still need our help. I personally have not stopped my monthly donations to various organisations purely because I understand this need in these unchartered waters that we are all experiencing.

SO. For my birthday (30 April), what I am asking you is that instead of buying me that wonderful bunch of flowers, or that nice box of Lindt chocolate (cause y'all know I LOVE chocolate), I am asking you to please donate to this special cause that has recently become close to my heart.

Thank you for your understanding and please don't hesitate to share with friends and family that are looking to give to good causes at this point in time. Any amount, big or small, goes towards a better life for these animals <3
