Forget Me Knot- Baby Saving Device

I am the parent of 4 children. My youngest daughter, Skylynn, is still at the age where she must use a care seat. She is the inspiration behind this life saving product. So every year, as the temperatures rise, so does the risk of the unthinkable tragedy of kids accidentally left strapped in a car seat and dying from excessive heat exposure (hyperthermia). Parents and relatives aren't the only ones who forget a child in the back seat while going to work or running errands. Each year there are reports of child care providers who accidentally leave kids in a daycare bus or van. The number of incidents of child heat exhaustion deaths from being left in a hot car has risen dramatically since the mid- 1990s. I hope to do something about this.

     News reports of these incidents tend to suggest "bad" or "negligent" parents or caregivers. However, in most cases, the child is extremely loved and well taken care of. It's just a tragic ending to a forgetful episode that results in precious innocent lives being lost.

    What I hope to achieve is putting an end to the needless child deaths that occur every year. I have made a prototype of a small pillow that is comfortably placed in the car seat under the baby, along with a receiver that is attaches to your key chain. When the baby is placed onto the pillow, a transmitter is then activated and the receiver receives a signal that the baby is in their car seat. If the parent or caretaker gets farther than 10 feet from the baby, the keychain will vibrate and continuously beep along with a flashing LED light as a warning that the child was left in the car. As soon as the baby is removed from their car seat, the transmitter automatically shuts off. With proper funding, we can make these affordable enough for any family to purchase World Wide.
