Hi everyone –
My name is Courtney, and I am a recent graduate of UW-Platteville. I have avascular necrosis that has partially collapsed the talus bone in my right ankle, a souvenir from an accident 5 years ago that shattered and dislocated the ankle. Combined with arthritis, this condition causes intense pain while walking, which quickly tires me. Despite these limitations, I am a relatively active 30-year old woman, and I provide a forever home for 2 rescued dogs and 2 rescued cats while working from home as a professional student and freelance writer. I would ask for your help not for me, but for them.
The dogs I have rescued are young and in boisterous health. Tequila is a 4 year-old German Shepherd rescued from an abusive home, and Grizzly Bear is a year-old adopted fosterling from a local rescue group. They enjoy chasing each other around the back yard and wrestling, but have far too much energy for me to give them both the play time and exercise time they need. Bear is also overly friendly and he runs to the street to greet everyone that passes by when I’m exercising them in the backyard, which makes me fear for his safety.
Because of the difficulty with my ankle, I need help in order to get these kiddos the exercise they need. We have a pleasant back yard in Platteville, WI, which extends approximately 85’ x160’ where they can play under direct supervision or sit out in the sun tied on a cable. I would ask for your help in fencing in this yard so that these dogs can have a safe, secure place to play and get the exercise that I can‘t give them every day while they are still young.
Thank you so much for reading, and our most sincere gratitude for your donations.
The amount requested is a general estimation. Any extra funds will be donated back to the Grant County Humane Society to help other animals in need.
