For the LOVE of “Champ” Tito Ray

Magandang araw po sa lahat, we would like to ask for financial assistance for the treatment of our dear Tito Ray Arabe. He is 62 years old. I can say that he is self-disciplined and responsible but unfortunately, he was diagnosed with a severe sickness. It started in December 2018. At times, he was feeling something and the coughing also started. Although it worsened last April 2019.

Every time he speaks, he coughs. It came to a point where his body aches because of the coughing and he has difficulty breathing. He first went to World Citi Medical Center for consultation. He underwent x-ray and CT scan but they can’t rule out his condition. He was then referred to the hospital’s oncologist and said that he should undergo another series of lab tests.

They found out that there was a nodule in his kidney when he had an ultrasound. He transferred to (NKTI) National Kidney and Transplant Institute for a second opinion after another Tito of mine recommended his doctor and they found out that he has kidney cancer. He was then admitted there to prepare for an operation. The doctor told him to use a nebulizer and spirometer to exercise his breathing. Then he was operated and the infected kidney was removed.

I want to say that my Tito is so brave and strong because he already had multiple surgeries before. During that time, he feared that he might die during the operation. We prayed and the operation was successful. He stayed there for a few days to recover. Although, the cancer cells spread to internal parts of his body like his lungs and bones. We were devastated. He is now diagnosed with Renal cell Carcinoma Stage 4.

This explains why he is having a hard time breathing. After the operation, the doctor prescribed pazopanib, a chemo tab for him to take for 6 months and it costed PHP503,890. He also needed oxygen from time to time so he can breathe properly. He goes to the doctor once or twice a month for check-ups and each session costs Php4000. Last December 2019, he had a PET scan that cost Php60,000 and through that medical procedure, they discovered that the cancer cells has spread.

On the second to the last week of the same month, he suddenly couldn’t breathe for half a minute while he was taking a bath. He immediately stopped what he was doing and went out of the bathroom to use the nebulizer. He was brought to NKTI for admission and that costed him Php80,000. The doctor told him that he can now be released so he can enjoy and celebrate the new year with his family. They stayed at a convenient place so that he wouldn’t inhale any smoke from outside.

He stayed there for the night but the next day, he was brought to the hospital again because he is really having a hard time breathing. He is currently admitted to the hospital for heart monitoring and further medication. His cancer cells are really aggressive but he is fighting back. He is strong. We are fighting with him.

He is now taking a new chemo tab called sunitinib sutent which costs Php12,000 for 4 tablets. Thankfully, his oxygen level and heart rate is now normal. His hospital bill for 1.5 days is Php34,000. It has been difficult for us emotionally, physically and financially. All of us are working together and we know that this is just a challenge.

While we have asked our family relatives for financial help, and others like PCSO, it is still not enough. We admit that we are not rich, we are doing everything we can. We are humbly asking for your help. We are thankful to all those who have helped us and the people who continuously support us.
