For My Father’s Battle with Multiple Myeloma (Blood Cancer) Stage 3

Hello everyone, we are from San Fernando, La Union, Philippines.

We would like to ask for your help financially and through your prayers for my father's battle with Multiple Myeloma (Blood Cancer) Stage 3.

My father (Lamer L. Lanuza) initially complained about bleeding gums and sudden skin rashes last December 2018. With it, he went to the hospital for checkup and consult. After certain tests, consults and medications, the rashes were gone and the bleeding gums stopped.

Few weeks after, my father started to have a cough. He then started taking antibiotics as per his doctor's prescription. After weeks of still having the cough, they went back to the hospital for further tests and found out that he already has pneumonia and his hemoglobin is low. He then was confined in the hospital.

As days passed by, his body started deteriorating. Sudden weight loss, restlessness, shortness of breath, bone pain, feeling of weakness, low hemoglobin, disorientation, etc. His doctors focused first in treating his pneumonia since it is very dangerous. After few weeks of sleepless and painful nights, his pneumonia fortunately was cured. However, my father's body still is deteriorating. His hemoglobin is still low even if they have transfused bags of blood. He cannot sleep and complains about bone pain. With this, his oncologist advised to conduct further tests to diagnose him and this already included bone marrow biopsy which usually takes 2 weeks to be processed.

On the following days, my father became weaker and weaker. For every x-rays, blood tests, urine tests etc., the results were the same. Few days later, his creatinine went high which could lead to kidney failure. They then again added more medications for this. After how many weeks in the hospital, my father still cannot sleep, is in pain, disoriented and still very weak. He repeatedly shouts at night due to restlessness and pain and keeps on telling my mother that he wants to go home.

After days of continuous medications and tests, his hematologist finally diagnosed him with Multiple Myeloma (Blood Cancer) Stage 3 and referred us to a Hematology Oncology Doctor or specialist in Baguio to start his treatment.

When we got back home from Baguio after a week of confinement with tests, medications, chemo and dialysis, my father's condition already improved. All of us were relieved because we have seen that he became stronger and there were no more sleepless nights for him. As part of his treatment though, he has to take his medications, get injected with his chemo drug once a week and dialysis twice a week.

Two weeks later, my father was rushed to the hospital due to severe pain. I went home immediately from Manila (where I work) to San Fernando, La Union. Now he is in the ICU and is in critical condition in battle with his Multiple Myeloma (Blood Cancer). Me, my mother, brother, sister and other relatives sometimes cannot contain our tears seeing him in his current condition but we have to keep on being strong for him.
