A humble, bright, generous soul has left us - Niño, or Onin as known by many, suffered from a stroke on Sunday, April 19. He was rushed to the hospital at 5am. He needed surgery due to bleeding in the brain, but his condition was deemed unfit for an operation. He deteriorated rapidly. The lack of availability of resources (due to Covid-19) made it more challenging for family and friends to ensure he gets the appropriate medical attention. He finally bade goodbye on Monday night, April 20.

It was a whirlwind, but it saw family and friends come together to extend support. It was an amazing display of teamwork, kindness and love from everyone - even those who didn't know each other! This goes to show how well loved Onin is.

Onin is the family's breadwinner, always putting his and family's interests first. He worked abroad to make sure their needs are met, and that his lifelong dream of building a house for his parents would be accomplished. Thankfully, this was done last year.

This is unexpected and came as a big blow to the family. While waiting for the health insurance claims, they had to shell out a hefty sum for the medical bills incurred. If you would like to extend support for the family at this time, I am sure Onin would be grateful.

If you are based in the Philippines, these are other options:

Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI)
Francis Dave Magbalana (nephew)
0069141587

Philippine National Bank (PNB)
Rochelle Eustaquio Rastrullo (sister)
139294000037

Phiippine Savings Bank (PSBank)
Augusto Castalone Eustaquio (father)
212361004189

GCash
Robemar Mendiola (nephew)
09457006581

BPI is preferred by the family as they don't have ATM cards for the other banks (which means they have to do over the counter transactions) but we've provided options just the same.

Thank you.

  • My deepest thoughts are with Onin's family right now. I first worked with Onin around 10 years ago on what was an extremely challenging project in Europe for a major acquisition. His enthusiasm and mastery for his work was phenomenal. When I relocated to Asia he always made the effort to visit when he came to Singapore and was generous with his time and gifts for me and my family. Will miss his quick wit and humour and passion for everything. Going to miss you mate.
