For My Sister’s Kidney Transplant

My sister, Ma. Czarwen Torio (Mawie) is undergoing Hemo Dialysis Treatment thrice every week and she is still maximizing the 90 sessions granted to Philhealth members. She was diagnosed with IGA Nephropathy 7 years ago.She is only 25 years old, single mother to a smart little boy who is now 5 years old. It has been 2 years since she started dialysis. Actually our father was once a dialysis patient for almost 4 years but we couldn't support the financial needs that this illness require.

She is very young to let go of her dreams and of her inspiration which is her son (Weno). As an older sister, I saw what she went through. She even go by herself to different government agencies just to seek financial/medical help for her treatment and maintenanance medicines. Even other political personnel, she tried whoever she can seek help from. Even during dialysis treatment, she always go alone since we have work during weekdays and on Saturday I am able to accompany her.

It is not easy to see your sister going through all the pain and sufferings which caused by the illness. I can see how hopeful she is from all the efforts she is doing up untill now. As I am always saying to others, "its better to think of what you're going to eat the next morning than to think if you can still afford for a treatment just to live".

Let's save Maw!!... for her son, for her family and for her dreams.
