For My Mom’s Medical Expenses

Last Sept.9 2018, my mother, Leslie N. De Guzman, was rushed to the hospital due to a stroke. She is currently in the ICU at Marikina St. Vincent Hospital.

Mama was diagnosed to have CVA (CerebroVascular Accident). The blood flow on her brain stopped because of blockage (clot). After a few days, she had difficulty of breathing. Result of the xray showed that she had fluid in her lungs.

My mom is only able to receive food thru her NGT. Despite her doctor's and nurses best effort, they could not normalize her BP (blood pressure). We had to rely on IV medications to regulate her blood pressure. Since she also suffered from Pulmonary Edema, they also had to intubate my mom and hook her to a ventilator to help her breathe and deliver the needed oxygen.

We have been staying in the ICU for more than 3 weeks. Due to high cost of being confined in ICU, laboratory tests and other medical expenses, her health insurance (HMO-Maxicare) costs 250,000Php (461usd) has been maxed out already. Right now, to be able to continue her medications and take the laboratory tests, we are paying upfront in cash. Included in the photos are the long list of medicines she needs and their corresponding prices, I have uploaded as well our running total medical bill which is 221,353Php (412usd) as of Sept. 21 (less the the amount shouldered by her HMO).

Since we do not really have the excess funds to cover for the entire needed amount, we are reaching out to government agencies (SSS, PhilHealth, DSWD, PCSO and Office of the City Mayor) to seek medical assistance. However, the amount gathered is still not enough to cover for the hospital bill and her other medical expenses (medicines, supplies, etc) That is why we are seeking the help of generous individuals or groups/organizations who can donate any amount from the heart to raise the funds we still lack for her medical expenses.
