Last 1/26/19 my father accompanied his colleague to their workplace in Bukidnon. He was the one driving because his collegue doesn't know how to drive. He experienced chest pain along the way but he thought it was just an ordinary muscle spasm that will be relieved. While driving he continued to feel uneasy, felt thirsty and desired to void. They decided to stopover to pee when he suddenly experienced shortness of breath. He instructed his colleague to ask favor from any person within the area who knows how to drive and bring him to the hospital. He was rushed to a provincial hospital ER in Bukidnon, got intubated because of difficulty of breathing and was brought to Cagayan de Oro City for futher treatment in a hospital that can better adress his condition. He had Myocardial Infarction commonly known as heart attack and it was big blessing that the emergency blood thinner medication worked because he got the treatment within the 3 to 4 hours window period from the attack. It could have been a different story if it was beyond that time. Furthermore they could have fell off a cliff if he got the attack while he was driving.

He underwent cardiac angiogram that confirmed his 2D Echo result stating that his heart was only 45% functioning brought about by the massive heart attack. Per his Interventional Cardiologist the biggest artery of his heart where the big amount of blood flows is severely damaged to 95%. The doctor explained he needs to undergo emergency angioplasty because anytime he can have an arrest that will end his life. I asked how much it will be and the cath lab personnel told me that it will be around 390Kphp for 1 stent excluding some supplies. I was only given an hour to decide whether to go with the procedure or not. Initially I hesitated to say yes because we don't have that amount considering that my father does not have an HMO from his employer and my brother failed to enroll him as a dependent under his HMO so we only have my HMO to cover his stay. But my desire to save my father's life pushed me to say yes without any security that we could pay the charges in time. The emergency procedure took place and the doctor said that his heart is now back to normal function with blood flow that optimal rate and he can be extubated upom his pulmonologists clesrance. He is now safe and I am grateful to the heavens for the grace of life.

Last 2/6/2019 my father was discharged from the hospital. Our total bill for 11 days in the hospital was 660,151.65php. Less 25,000php downpayment, Philhealth coverage of 30,300php, PCSO assistance of 35,000php and my HMO coverage of 200,000php we ended up paying 366,467php. We grateful for our family and friends who gave monetary help and to the person who allowed us to borrow 250,000php. Now we are faced with 250K debt and we are hoping to pay it in due time.
