For Children of Ventanilla/Para Los Ninos de Ventanilla

Our Event: "La Chocolatada"

On a yearly basis, citizens of Ventanilla, Peru arrange a wonderful Christmas celebration for their disadvantaged youth. "La Chocolatada" is a tradition in many parts of Peru. Hopefully together we can make this celebration one that the children will never forget!  Everyone from Ventanilla has such fond memories of their childhoods, including my mother.  Growing up in a poverty stricken area is difficult, but this doesn't deter anyone from living fruitful, goal-driven lives.  We're simply striving to put smiles on the faces of these more than deserving children.

The holidays are a time to reflect back on the past year fondly, and to start it off with a beautiful memory. Together we can make this happen, and much more for these young children!

What do we need the funds for?

This particular event is aimed to cater to an estimated 500 children of Ventanilla's families, even though more is expected. Last year almost 600 children came out! The date has already been set for December 20th in one of Ventanilla's central parks.  The date is less than two months away so we're kind of on a crunch!

The funds will be allocated to the following:

1. Toy gifts for each child-according to age
2. A uniform (a shirt and a hat with a logo) for each child; to keep track of which children are participating
3. Bags of goodies for the children
4. Food- Hot chocolate, Panetonne, Cotton Candy, Candy Apples, Popcorn, Shaved Ice
5. Christmas decorations-including balloons, table covers, etc
6. Rental equipment-tables, stage, audio system, speakers, microphone

Aside from the gifts and food, there will also be entertainers that will put on a show for the children. Actors will be dressed up as clowns, Santa Claus, and will be donating their time for free. The event is catered to the children and the scheduled activities (contests, etc) are meant to make their day memorable! A portion of the funds will also be used for little items, such as invitations and tickets to enter children into contests.

 Hace dos años un grupo de Ventanillenses nos unimos con una sola idea, AGASAJAR POR NAVIDAD a un grupo de niños de Ventanilla (SATELITE,NAVAL,HIJOS DE VENTANILLA ,GRAU PACHACUTE). Este año retómamos nuestro compromiso y anunciamos con beneplácito a todo este grupo humano que nos acompaña brindando su colaboración que este año nuevamente haremos la NAVIDAD DEL NIÑO VENTANILLENSE 2012. No olvidemos amigos que somos de Ventanilla. En Ventanilla crecimos, y como hace dos años volveremos a alegrar esos corazoncitos tan Ventanillenses como los nuestros !Ponte de pie Ventanillense¡
