FOR A BRIGHTER TOMORROW

Blessed me with an opportunity to attain education will enable me for a lifetime.

Back in October 2006, I relocated to Singapore from New York after residing in New York for 22 years. I was given a golden opportunity to be involved in the retail trade, was able to thrived and grown my career. I wasn't able to upgrade and develop any special skills until I landed different jobs with various trades. It was a blessing in disguise that I was able to acquire skills such as basic IT skills in Microsoft office, food handling and hygiene certification, basic SAP knowledge, forklift license, CPR & AED trained certification. I thought my career journey in Singapore will be an easy one, it turned out to be a challenging one. I was very lucky to be involved in the set up of the first integrated resort here in Singapore, this is where I was able to gain all these useful skills. On 2012 I went into a business venture hoping that I can provide a better life for my family, but the business failed a year later. This affected our family financially. I was doing 3 part time jobs as a Secondary school relief teacher, F&B supervisor and Theater usher supervisor. I was trying very hard to help my wife in contributing what I can to help covered our family expenses. I am very blessed and grateful to my wife who is very supportive, the pillar of our family. She never looks down on me even when I failed. She constantly reminded me to keep trying and never give up.On August 2015, I was blessed and got selected out of 300 applicants under a career conversion assistance program to take up a course postgraduate diploma in building management and was able to get a job as a property executive at a full time basis. After close to a year with this job, I really enjoyed working with my boss and the team. I feel the need to do something to start anew in rebuilding our family situation. I feel that my wife had done so much for me and my three kids and now is the time for me to take action so that she can be free of this burden which she had been carrying throughout this ordeal. I did some research and explore various opportunity with a high possibility that will help us enhance our income or getting a job with better pay. I saw this opportunity online that an educational company called Udacity partnered with Google and AT&T, offering certification and guaranteed job placement within 6 months after completing the course as an Andriod / IOS apps developer or a Self-Driving Car Engineer. The whole course needs 12 months to complete, the program cost SGD$5000. As of now, I don’t have the means in taking up this opportunity to help me and my family turn around for a better future. I will leave it to the Lord to continue to guide me with His direction, if this is the Lord’s will, He will provide as always.
