“The best way to not feel hopeless is to get up and do something. Don’t wait for good things to happen to you. If you go out and make some good things happen, you will fill the world with hope, you will fill yourself with hope.” - Barack Obama

COVID-19, or Coronavirus Disease 2019, is a type of virus that spreads primarily through droplets of saliva or discharge from the nose when an infected person coughs or sneezes (WHO, 2020). This virus recently affected the Philippines with 1,546 cases and 78 deaths as of yesterday, March 30, 2020. While the cases are mostly in Metro Manila, but there are different parts of the countries that had been affected too. One of them is Brgy. Mabini in Alicia, Isabela, Philippines. It is situated far from Metro Manila, in the northern part of the country. Recently, there had been three (3) positive cases in our barangay which resulted to full lockdown of the area, where no one is allowed to go in or out.

I live in a housing facility for indigent families in Brgy. Mabini, and even with the effort of the government to give relief goods, it is still not enough because of the limited budget. With regards to this, some people don't have food to eat and try to find something to fill their hungry stomach despite the danger of being infected.

If only there would be food packs for them that can sustain food and other necessities even for several days. I am asking for your financial help for the food packs of these families. That would be a great help and will not encourage people to go out despite the lockdown. Any amount generated through this fundraising will be used to purchase food and other basic necessities for the most needy.

Let's help each other through this crisis. Thank you so much and God bless.
