Food on prehistoric way

On Borovik lake in Croatia near town of Đakovo we organize third in a row experimental archaeology workshop. This years main theme is "Food on prehistoric way" and by that we mean everything people needed to procure and prepare their food. What type of food they cooked, on what way and what where first products that where made in those times (cheese, bread, beer and many more). Periods on which we are focusing are mesolithic and neolithic, so You'll be able to see tools and weapons that where needed for food procurement in those times.

This festival of experimental archaeology will show You in the first person experience how people dressed, ate, had fun, made art and played music. Couple of stands will be there with food from prehistoric period and one with reproduced artifacts for You to get a better look at them. And of course, every day we will present to you couple of workshops (flint making, bone tools making, ceramics making and wooden bow making) in which everyone can participate.

The idea is to educate visitors and participants in prehistoric themes, so that they can learn more about our ancestors and our past and forgotten way of life . Also we believe that this project could be really good for development of this areas tourism which is unfortunately still very neglected on tourist map of Croatia and we believe that this lake and all of Đakovo and Našice area and all of Slavonia has a lot to offer just like some more touristic sites of Croatia, such as Adriatic coast.

First two years we have organized and financed this project all on our own. Every participant had to pay their own bus tickets and buy their own food and drinks. This maybe doesn't sound as much, but for a student that is a lot. So that's why we decided to start this crowdfunding campaign, to finance transport and groceries for people that are interested in participation. Also this would help a lot with procurement of some of materials that are needed for our workshop.

Also we would like to underline that students that are coming to this workshop are from all over the Balkans, Slovenia, Bosnia and Croatia, that way we would definitely help them to travel and stay with us on this beautiful lake.

Workshop or how we like to call it, festival of experimental archaeology will be held from 8th to 11th of August 2019 on beautiful lake of Borovik near town of Đakovo.
