One of the root causes of violence in the communities we serve is poverty, and the greatest revelation of poverty, inequality and food insecurity came when the COVID-19 pandemic hit, and many homes were instantly without food or resources to take care of their families. It is for this reason that we have put all our projects on hold during the various levels of lockdown, and focused on food insecurity. We are committed to providing over 50 families per week with food parcels, and we support 12 soup kitchens. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic many companies have closed down and many are left without employment, and while we are dedicated to helping people find employment, until such a time, we are committed to helping take care of the families who are struggling and in need of food. We help many families with non-perishable food items that can last them the whole month, up to 50 families per week and if we have the resource to do more, then we can sometimes help up to 60 families weekly. Each of the soup kitchens we support are given resources once every 2 weeks, this includes 10 kg of maize meal, rice, potatoes, onions, lentils, soup mix, peanut butter, jam, and more to be able to serve meals every day. We support up to 12 soup kitchens who each feed up to 150 people per day. We really urge you to help us in our plight of alleviating poverty and the problem of food insecurity in communities. The budgetary constraints we experience is causing that we are able to help less and less people each week. Any contribution to the work we are doing would be highly appreciated.
