Dear Friends,
I am writing to ask for your support to raise the living standard of disadvantaged ethnic minority children attending Truong Son Secondary Boarding School in Quang Ninh District, Quang Binh, Vietnam.
The children attending the school travel for miles to reach the school, which is in an extremely difficult socio-economic area situated close to the Vietnam-Laos border.
Although only a day boarding school, many of the students must stay overnight due to the long distances to their villages.
According to Vietnamese Government policy, each semi-boarding student is entitled to a monthly support of VND 596,000 per month, it means VND19,867 per student per day, and 15kg of rice per month. That is less than USD1 per day for breakfast, lunch and dinner for those students.
I would like to call for your attention to this problem and ask your assistance in providing the children and school with a variety of herbs and spices to improve the quality of their meals. That is, salt, pepper, cooking oil, fish sauce etc.. Your support will go directly to improving the quality of foods provided by the school, helping the children to focus on study and reduce potential drop-outs.
This project requires VND 1,500,000 (USD 75) per month to sustain itself and support the children. For those who might like to contribute towards our goal we are aiming for a total of VND 36,000,000 to supply two years worth of resources.
With love and thanks,
