Food for children in Bolivia

Based in the western suburbs of Sucre (Bolivia), the community center Ciruelitos

is the daily home to 30 children in the age between 2-10 years.

Families and alone-standing women who are living in poor conditions can

find help here in this institution.

It is a social and educational place for children, whose parents can't provide them

with the necessary knowledge and food by themselves.

Many parents lack the sufficient education needed to help their own

children with studies and homework;

while working under bad conditions for only a few dollars a week.

Schools don’t have enough space in their classrooms to teach

the amount of children that live here, that’s why many of them

can only visit primary school in the afternoons.

This institution offers these kids a space to learn and gain

support in their educational process; making it possible for poor

families to handle the daily challenges that they are presented with and

to secure a better education for their children.

But the budget available to Ciruelitos is very limited and only based on the

monthly food contribution of 50 bolivianos (7 dollars) that each family

is paying. With all cultural differences aside, supporting any child on only 7 dollars

per month seems like an impossible task.

Together with your help and the food donations of the local Condor Trekkers/Cafe

we try to provide a healthy diet for all children in Ciruelitos.

Our goal is to double the budget for food per month and

raise enough money to create a safe playground surrounding;

maintaining our own vegetable and herb garden; as well as

paying a contribution to our local primary teachers and mothers

who give their time and care volunteering for this institute.
