Edited for English fluidity by Teresa Louis, 1/24/21
In this beautiful work we made 30 breakfasts, 30 lunches, water, banana, canguil, toilet paper, blue soap, sweater, jackets, clothes and hats for the cold, as well as shoes.
We went in search of the most needy people in Cotacachi, and Ibarra. On the way we found a couple of young people who were traveling back to Colombia since they tried their luck in Ecuador and did not do well, so they decided to return and try their luck in another place.
Also [we met] a group that was traveling on the way to Peru. Unfortunately, they did not have very [comfortable] backpacks since some of them carried sacks with their clothes and few belongings.
Then in one of the roundabouts we found a large family that had children and there were two pregnant women [who said] that their legs hurt a lot...on their long journey, in addition to the great difficulty of [dealing with] cold and heat [and] rain, and that it has complicated the way a bit. [They] rely on carrying a bit of each other's belongings.
Some young people [we met] were returning to Venezuela. [One man] had an infection in the soles of his feet [from walking so much,] and it was difficult for him to walk towards his return. He mentioned being a former military man, but it was difficult for him to realize his dreams in another country like Chile.
We appreciate the collaboration of all our donors. especially Clancy Lee Arnold, Deb Swansburg, David Meade, Cindy Middleton, Irene Duncan, Marilu Maigua, Maya Sienicka, Pat Schnee, Carole Nervig, Teresa Louis, Perry Abbott, Vincent Donoghue, Ann Henry, Bill Henry, [and] Bill Schuler.
If you want to donate to those most in need, we would be grateful, since they are people who need our help a lot. Together we offer a hand to those who need it most.
We are receiving all kinds of donations, such as rice, tuna, chicken, eggs, money, masks, jackets, hats, backpacks, shoes, vegetables, socks, warmers for the cold, blankets, soaps, etc ...
