Food and Funds Dominical

Update posted by Christopher Ricciardi On Feb 05, 2021

After 10 months and 4000 Bags of food as well as truck loads of clothing and toys delivered to our community the Food and Funds Foundation food delivery program has come to an end.

We are very grateful for the overwhelming support we've received by all of our contributors. It has been an honor to serve the people of our area.

The administrators of the Mama Toucan's Food and Funds Foundation will continue to work on much needed community development projects and education initiatives. If you'd like to know how you can support these efforts please feel free to contact Christopher Ricciardi at [email protected]

Thank You to All. You've made a Difference.

Happy Holidays to Everyone,

We wanted to thank you all for participating in the Mama Toucan's Food and Funds Campaign. Thanks to you, we have been able to assist countless families here in the Dominical area, week after week, since March.

We have paid rent, we have covered electricity bills, we have sponsored medical care, we have delivered hundreds of bags of food, truckloads of clothing and toys and now we are preparing for a large delivery of games, toys, and school supplies to the children of our community to make their Christmas a little brighter.

We still have enough to deliver food for the next few weeks but soon that will come to an end.

In the spirit of the Holiday Season, please consider contributing to our foundation or perhaps sharing our campaign with your network so we may continue to support our community. We will continue to provide food and clothing to our neighbors for as long as we are capable. With your help we may be able to provide that much needed assistance well into 2021.

With Gratitude,

The Team from the Mama Toucans Food and Funds Drive

We hope this message finds you well. We are in to our 6 Month of Weekly Donations and our list of people in need grows as the restrictions of COVID-19 continue to negatively impact the tourism industry here in our area.

Our Food Drive has become the only source of nourishment for many of the local families in our community as local government programs are too stressed to respond or can not provide sufficient support for all those that are in need.

We visit neighbors that are well into their 90's living alone as well as young adults with small children that don't qualify for government support. They absolutely depend on our assistance and we depend on you.

Please consider making a small contribution to our foundation. We understand the weight and stress of this situation has impacted us all and we are eager to move on but lets please take a moment to be grateful for our own situation and consider those that are less fortunate.

Please also consider sharing our message and our campaign with your network of friends and family and help keep the Dominical Area Communities Healthy and Strong.

With Gratitude,

The Team at Food and Funds Dominical

Here we are, over a month into the restrictions posed on Costa Rica and we have expanded our reach to more than 65 families all around the area.

Our weekly bags of food have been helping people withstand the loss of their jobs due to the economic impact of this Global Pandemic.

Families have been joyed to received clothing, household items like pots pans, dishes, coffee makers, as well as a lot of books and toys, puzzles and games for young children.

Those of you that have so generously donated to the campaign may never know exactly how grateful our families are but we can assure you that they are holding each of you close to their hearts each night.

We continue to get small amounts of financial contributions to the campaign which is wonderful but the dry food goods donations have come to a near halt. We'd like to ask our community to once again have a look at any unwanted bags of rice, beans, canned goods, cooking oils, soaps and detergents and please drop them of at the Tables in front of Mama Toucan's here in Dominical. These items go a long way to filling out our donation bags and we still have a long way to go. We are not out of the woods yet.

Thank you again to our very generous community. We could not do this without your support.

Thanks again for your work on this and helping so many people in the community. Emily and I will be giving some bags of pasta, crackers, and other dry goods.

This week the Mama Toucan's Food and Funds Campaign received massive financial support by our community. In 7 days we went from $255 donated to nearly $7000.

We'd like to recognize Daveed Hollander from Coldwell Banker here in Dominical. He shared our campaign with his network of realtors and asked them to participate, and participate they did. Daveed and his family are long time members of the Dominical Community. We applaud them for always being on the forefront of support and development of anything community related. This goes mostly unrecognized, but not on our watch. Thank you Hollanders, we are very grateful for your efforts and hope others follow in your footsteps. Financial backing to our campaign is essential if we are to continue to supply our community with food, clothing, medical assistance and other necessities.

We would also like to recognize Hermanos Badilla. They are a small locally run farm that donated more than 50 GIGANTIC watermelons to our cause. If you have seen recent photos of our deliveries and people are holding watermelons...that is because of Hermanos Badilla. They operate in Hatillo and have amazing produce. Call them up at 8431-8255 and support the people that support your community!

There are also a few notable residents of Dominical and the surrounding area that donated $500 or more to our campaign, anonymously no less. These are the superheros of our community and we couldn't do what we do without their support. Since we don't know their names, lets all take this as an opportunity to BE KIND to everyone you see here in our corner of Costa Rica. There are incredible people abound and we all deserve to be nice to one another. Let us repay their generosity with kindness.

Thank you to all the people that have donated to our Food and Funds Campaign. This week we donated 25 very large bags of food to families that desperately needed it. Our work is not done. Please share this campaign with your friends and family. We will need all the support we can get to help out our brothers and sisters in and around the Dominical area.

Food and clothes can be donated in person at Mama Toucan's from 7:00am-7:00PM every day. Cash donations are collected in store and you can also donate directly to our paypal account that is 100% dedicated to this campaign [email protected]

Special thanks to Villas Alturas that have generously offer a recurring donation of up to $400 in food each week during the Covid-19 restrictions, and Cuna De Angel for a donation of $500 to our campaign via direct deposit.
