After an almost three year hiatus, notable African American playwright and director Denise O’Neal is back to debut her new play entitled “Fly In The Windshield". It has been hailed to be one of her most poignant and highly anticipated productions. “Fly In The Windshield" is a lighthearted drama that is loosely based on actual interviews conducted with a group of men completing a 90 day, faith-based drug recovery program.

Each account from each attendee so greatly inspired me and a year later I had written a play whose goal was not only to share their stories with the world, but to remind everyone of the transforming power of faith, the determination and strength of the human spirit and, with a little help from our friends, the ability to succeed where others have failed.

I workshopped my play, completing several rewrites, rallied moral support from actors and industry experts and set out to do a production that could change lives. I booked rehearsal time a performance dates at a local community theater and began the work of getting it done.

I was given the opportunity to conduct a formal reading in front of a live audience of theater critics and patrons at Theatre Suburbia in March 2013. The reading was extremely well received.

Finally, I booked rehearsal time a performance dates at a local community theater and began the work of getting it done.

The performance venue and dates have been secured. Production of “Fly In The Windshield” will be held at the historical Midtown Art Center in downtown Houston and is set to run for two weeks (possibly three) from August 1st to August 10th, 2013.

I asked close friends that believed in me to support this project in any way they could; some have, but there is still a great ways to go, so here I am; ready to embark upon a new great journey. The only thing that would make it better is if you were apart of it!
