Campaign Story
I've been making glasses for over 12 years and the major complaint of almost everyone is the cost. Glasses arent something we can just shrug off and forget. Now imagine being a child on a government assisted program that state you can get a free pair of glasses at participating locations. The "participating locations" is what get most patients. These locations are normally several tens of miles away from their home of origin and if the doctor doesnt own the optical, then the optical wont be able to take their inusrance. The reason for this is the doctor is who holds the license. If the license doesnt exist then the patient cant get service.
I am looking to start a program, similar to what larger corporations use to have a bigger tax write off, that will allow me to never turn a child away because they are carrying the wrong type of insurance. I have partners who are willing to give me special frame buy rates and lens rates as long as I purchase in large quantities. Doing this along side with keeping normal work processes has proven difficult as revenue has slowed due to those seeking the cheapest deal rather than allowing qualified and licensed opticians to producing their eyewear. This has made the art of making glasses more of a retail environment instead of a medical necessity and has caused most insurances to lower or not offer competitive benefits.
Not to sound like a 90s late night infomercial but for every $20 raised, a child with a non qualifying insurance or low income situation can receive an eye exam and a complete set of eyewear. My eventual goal is to go state wide and further with funding from capital investors but I need to know that there are people out there who believe and are willing to help the less fortunate by birth and not of their own making.
