Me and my husband are expecting our first child, to be born around July 6th. I am determined to bring this new being into the world in the sacred space of my home and farm, and I need your support to do so.
About us & the campaign
We are a young couple Rita and Gonçalo decided to live a natural live shared with open minded people. Two years ago we'v moved to a piece of land in central Portugal mountains where we wish to realize our dreams living along with Nature and empowering people. In this place a small community is growing and we all feel blessed with this new life inside me that wants to join us.
The aim of this campaign is to raise money to fund my midwife care and birth expenses.

In Portugal home births are not recognized by the government or supported by the public health services, As in many other countries in the world pregnant and birthing woman face difficulties in making autonomous choices about when, how and with whom to receive care and give birth to their babies.
So to make my wish of a peaceful home birth I deeply hope that u can support this campaign, helping us to raise 1500 euros to pay my midwife Mary Zwart and birth expenses.

From my heart to yours
My home is my sacred space where I feel empowered and strong to follow my intuition and believes to have this baby in a peaceful and joyful environment. I want to use this opportunity to grow emotionally and spiritually allong with my family.
My heart and soul calls for bringing this new life to the world in a comfort and safe space of my home, free from fears, distractions, restrictions, strangers, machines, florescent lights, multi-resistant bacteria and other diseases breeding in hospitals.
I believe in my intuition, my body's wisdom, my husband and my midwife to help me giving birth to our first baby.
If you can not help financially we understand and we'll be also forever grateful for your love prayers and for your help spreading this campaign.

Sending you my health and strength to hold a space for you as you birth this baby in the early weeks of July. My firstborn was a July 14th baby and I can almost feel the pregnancy that was 14 years ago, as I write this. Many juicy blessings!

Olá Rita e Gonçalo! Fui vizinha de bairro do Gonçalo quando tinha 10-12 anos e conheci-te, Gonçalo, através da minha mãe, que é professora de cozinha vegetariana (entre outras profissões). A primeira vez que falei contigo foi na escola S. Sebastião e Silva durante o programa de férias na qual eu estava inscrita (não sei se estavas só de visita à escola ou se eras monitor nesse programa). E lembro-me dessa conversa por me teres perguntado o que tinha sido o meu almoço. Já estava a preparar a conversa do costume "hm, não sabes o que é, tem um nome esquisito, mas eu e a minha família comemos...". Lá insististe e, para meu espanto, disseste que sabias perfeitamente quando ouviste a minha resposta - seitan! Embora nunca mais tivesse falado contigo, ia sabendo das tuas aventuras pela minha mãe, e sempre ficaste como este exemplo invisível de alguém que estava a construir a sua vida de forma independente, contra as normas da sociedade (pelo menos em termos de alimentação), e com uma grande curiosidade em relação a tópicos que dentro da minha família eram comuns, mas que fora desta minha pequena bolha eram considerado estranhos e um pouco alucinados. Demorei muitos anos a encontrar amigos da minha idade que partilhassem algo do que foi a minha educação e valores desde que nasci. E por isso sempre foi muito importante saber que havia por aí "um Gonçalo", e, quiças, sem eu saber, houvesse por aí mais uns quantos espalhados. Mais uma vez, foi através da minha mãe que soube da tua Quinta (ela partilhou comigo a página de facebook). É com muito orgulho e alegria que vejo o que estás a construir, e tenho a certeza de que terás uma família linda e rodeada de amor! I had a homebirth in Algarve 8 years ago. My midwife traveled halfway across the region to be with me and cost €800. I have also witnessed a 1st time homebirth and 2 water births - that cost nothing. Good luck.
