What would it be like to have daylight reduce a little each day down to only 2 hrs, without even sun? and be very cold? and cut off by extreme weather?
Would you want to just hibernate or push on through? Is isolation a stimulus to creativity, or just lonely? Cabin fever anyone? Meditate or create or dissipate?
This is what I am about to explore in Þingeyri, a small village in the remote Westfjords, Iceland, heading towards the Winter Solstice. The effect of fading light and isolation on the psyche, and the delicate balance between self sufficiency and necessary community support.
It is a personal challenge, and one to which I would like to invite you along for the ride.
Share with me my journey in photos, video, interviews, and artworks, then explore the complete resulting exhibition compiled from these materials upon my return.
All donors will of course be publicly acknowledged at the exhibition as backers of this project, and there will be little extras from time to time as they come to hand.
I hope you can enjoy this once in a lifetime project with me and please feel free to ask what you will as it unfolds.
