Finish the Family Home

My wife and I bought the family house 14 years ago. It needs a complete rehab as my Mom never had the money to keep up with it , although she did manage to have some windows replaced and get siding done. My job did not allow the time or energy to get much done and we can not afford to hire contractors. Both my wife and I lost our jobs within last 6 months. It has become increasingly difficult to live and try to work on the house , even though I now have the time. My wife helps where she can and I get my son's help if he is available. Otherwise , it's all me.

Selling the house has never been an option.

The plan is to hire contractors for things I can not do and try to do the rest myself.

Areas that need to be completed include : roof , some fascia replacement , exterior drainage/gutters , insulation , remaining windows , exterior aluminum trim , electrical wiring , plumbing , furnace and some ductwork , some structural repairs to framing , finish kitchen , update bathrooms. interior finish work including doors , trim , drywall , paint , flooring.
