Campaign Story
Well,
My name is Aisha Banks Kuteesa. I was born 1993. Am LGBTQ asylum seeker who fled from Uganda to Kenya after my girlfriend was killed by her family and they wanted to kill me too.
I came to Kenya in February 2017 and I was registered by the government of Kenya as an asylum seeker on 8th February.
I was forced to go to the camp (kakuma refugee camp) which was full of homophobic people on LGBTQ. In that last month one of our LGBTQ members died. It's too horrible, I couldn't bare the situation over there. I decided to come back to Nairobi where I have been homeless up to now.
It has been raining and shining on me. The coldness is too much and I have been suffering from malaria and can't afford to go for the treatment.
I have no family since my own family disowned me because i am a lesbian.
However I have a case with UNHCR Kenya and Rainbow Railroad Canada. I believe I will get resettled with time in the country which could give me peace.
I am raising these funds in order to get food, shelter, medication and other basic needs like blanket as am waiting for the long-term process to be resettled.
