Hello, everyone! This is my first time writing an article about my dad. It has been my long time dream to hug my father. Growing up without my parents has been a harsh yet beautiful experience for me. I learned to stand on my own but sometimes.
Let me first introduce myself to you. My name is Irish and I live in the Philippines. When I was 2 years old, we used to live in Manila but due to my mom’s decision to go back to her hometown, we never got a chance to see our dad again. By the time we transferred to my mom’s hometown which is in the Visayan region, she left us under the provision of our grandmother who later on, died with Tuberculosis.
After the death of my grandmother, my aunt took the four of us. From time to time, we would ask our aunt about our parents and their whereabouts. She would change the topic whenever we ask her if we could come and visit them, sadly, her response would be, “we don’t have enough money to go there.”
Despite our longing to see them, we excel at school especially in Arts and Academics. I put in mind that the medals and ribbons we earn are for them to be proud of us. Every recognition day, my heart would sink whenever my classmates would get together with their parents on stage.
A year later on, my aunt died thus, my sister stood for us. Because of poverty, she would go to restaurants and wash dishes just to provide us food and my brothers and I would sell veggies in the market. My siblings and I had gone to a very crucial experience at a very young age.
As of the moment, I am now a 19 year old working college student and am taking up a Bachelor’s in Political Science. I work at night and study in the morning. I got sick because of the graveyard schedule and my work as a call center agent however, I have great dreams. I want to become a lawyer someday and help my siblings finish their studies. I hope to have an experience what a real complete family really is.
For this, I would like to ask your help in funding our Finding daddy project. This would really bless my three siblings and I. We are looking forward to greet our father with a hug. Your fund will never go to waste.
