Financial Hardships for Marine Vet

This last year has been emotionally, physically and financially draining for our family.  It is hard for us to ask for help but we have exhausted all of our other resources and don't know what to do. 

My husband, who served 8 years in the Marine Corps from 1990-1998, has struggled with alcoholism for the last 2-3 years along with severe depression, anxiety, PTSD, ADHD and sleep problems.  This last February, this culminated in him trying to take his life.  After spending over 24 hours unconscious and on a ventilator (during which time we didn't know if he was going to have brain damage or other problems), he came to and they discovered he had pnuemonia.  He spent 5 days in the ICU and then 5 days in the psychiatric ward were they changed all of his medications.  I am happy to say that he has been sober since then and we are active in AA (Alcoholics Anonymous) and Al Anon.  He has a new psychiatrist and two new therapists one of which is doing EMDR therapy to treat his PTSD.  Our children and I also have our own individual therapists.  Luckily we have wonderful insurance but there are a few medical bills that have been accumulating.

Six weeks after my husband got out of the hosptial, I had a complete hysterectomy after years of struggling with endometriosis and PCOS (Polycystic Ovary Syndrome).  While my husband has been fortunate to keep his employment through this, I lost my income right before my surgery - partially because of the events that occurred and partially for other reasons.

So here we are almost 4 months later and we are financially broken... I have a new job that I start next week but of course it will take a few weeks to get pay started.  We have fallen into the payday loans trap.  While my husband makes good money and I will make good money, right now we are so broke we can barely get food for our kids let alone school supplies - which is coming up very soon.  We admit we have made some very bad financial decisions and we plan on working on that when we can get a little bit ahead. Any funding you can help us with will help us catch up on bills that are behind plus get school supplies for our children but it will mostly just keep us afloat until my pay kicks in.  Thank you and I promise that when we get ahead I will pay it forward!  I firmly believe in helping those that need it if you have been helped when you are down.
