Campaign Story
Hello everyone. This is Rhon Andy Reyes’ father, Andie, who is knocking on your kind hearts to help us fund his medical bills.
Some information about Rhon Andy:
Rhon Andy "Bikoy" Reyes is a happy, jolly, normal and the darling of the crowd in our area. He loves basketball.
He is also our greatest gift together with his two sisters.
Start of Change in Posture:
Last June 2021, we noticed a change in his posture with flu like symptoms like coughing, loss of appetite and fatigue. We decided to have him check in the clinic and they requested us to do some tests like the following:
- Chest X-Ray
- Lumbar APL
- Pelvis (AP)
- Thoracic Spine (APL)
- Frog Leg View
The initial diagnosis is that he has Interstitial Pneumonia and Lumbar Sacral (APL) Muscular Spasm. The doctor asked him to take antibiotics.
On the month of July, again, we brought him for another check-up in Philippine Orthopedic and Bikoy has undergone another set of laboratory tests:
- CBC
- Creatinine
- Uric Acid
- SGOT
- SGPT
- Peripheral Smear
- Sputum Gene Xpert
Unfortunately, we missed some of the tests due to the lockdown and lack of money.
Going in and out of the hospital:
His condition got worse but due to the current situation and lack of funds, we could only bring him to the hospital on the month of August. At this time, we saw significant changes on his body like one of his limbs has shrunk and lost tremendous weight. We are deeply hurt and worried about his health condition and the fact that we could not provide him adequate medical attention.
One day, we rushed him to PCMC but there was no available room at that time so we went to East Avenue Medical Center. There he was confined and doctor performed Laparoscopy, Placement of Drain and they have tried to obtain sample of Ascites Fluid for biopsy, however, his heartbeat dropped as well as his blood pressure so the doctor decided to postpone the procedure. There was also a significant amount of fluid seen on his stomach and his creatinine level increased so the doctor drained the fluid and put a stent on his kidney.
Diagnosis:
- Suspicious for Malignancy
- Cytomorphologic Features Consistent with Acute and Chronic Inflammatory Process
- Reactive Mesothelial Cells
Scary Moments:
After OR, he was sent to Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) because his condition is not getting better and they had to intubate him for a period of time.
On September 08, he has started some series of dialysis and since this was the first, he was having seizures and his blood pressure dropped. The dialysis and seizures continued on the succeeding days which any parents’ worst nightmare. Just thinking about these things makes us cry and wonder this is happening to our beloved boy.
It has been more than a month since he was brought to East Avenue Medical Centre (EAMC) and as you can imagine how our medical bill shoot up as of this writing. The doctors are having hard time finding out what could be the main cause of his illness. We are still waiting for the result of biopsy. Most of his medications are not available inside the hospital so we need to buy them outside which is way more expensive.
Currently, BIkoy is still in PICU. He is doing better and his vital signs have been stable thanks to the medications and prayers for our little warrior. This is really a very challenging time for our family and every prayer will greatly strengthen us and our only son.
This is a long battle.
We don’t have unlimited resources and struggling to make the ends meet. We know that what we have is not enough to go through this journey and we will definitely need all the help that we can get. We thank you in advance with whatever support you can extend with our family.
May the Lord bless you.
