In November I will present a Film Festival titled Women in the Middle East in partnership with RCTV.  We will show 5 films in 6 weeks in the RCTV Screening Room, located at 21 Gorham Street, Rochester, NY 14605.   The films will be shown on Monday evenings at 7 pm, starting November 4 and finishing December 8.  This venue is in downtown Rochester which is accessible to the local immigrant population as well as activists and those interested in foreign films and womens issues.     Each film will be followed by a discussion.

The films are: Veiled Women (Egypt, Syria, Lebanon), Bliss (Turkey),  Woman (Syria), New Day in Old Sana'a (Yemen), Our Times (Iran) .   Two are fiction films and three are documentaries.   They reflect diverse perspectives on womens lives in the Middle East, but all show the changing roles of women in societies in transition.    The money is needed to purchase  one more license to have the films selected for this series. I would like to show this series in other cities after premiering in Rochester. My blog is The Deconstructed Globe.
