Fighting for Education

Greetings to all,

My name is Elias Soud, I am a Computer Engineering student and I live in the city of Latakia - Syria.

Due to the ongoing crisis in my country, and the widespread of war and armed conflict, Syria is not a safe place to study or live in, as rockets and bombs may target residential areas at any time. Last year alone, my university got hit three times by explosive rockets which caused the death of more than 30 students.

The mentioned above, along with my aspirations as a person and as a student, made me decide to leave Syria and study abroad, craving quality education in a safe place. I chose Germany as my destination because of its strong and advanced education system alongside the tuition-free public universities which makes it the most affordable for a student from country such as Syria. Sadly, it is also not affordable for me, because wages and salaries in Syria are very low compared with most other countries, as my family's whole monthly income is 170$, taking into consideration that my father is a doctor and my mother is an engineer.

One of the conditions for an international student to study in Germany is to put 10000 euros in a German bank account which I will use for living expenses and accommodation, adding to that amount a plane ticket and university application fees plus the embassy fee, the whole amount sums up to a minimum of 15000 euros.

As you can see from the required amount and from my family's income, there is no way that I can afford my studies.

I am an open-minded scientifically curious person, a Humanist, and an enthusiastic learner, I want to help humanity both as a person and as a professional, I also like to get involved in communities and voluntary work, as I am an administrator/volunteer at "I believe in Science" initiative, link: http://ibelieveinsci.com/?v=EliasSoud.

I need your help to be given the opportunity to study in a safe environment with quality education, so I can extract my abilities and reach my full potential as a human being.

I don't mind not getting donations, but what saddens me is that most people are being hostile to the fundraiser, and to me.

After being through so much in a country devastated by war, violence, and corruption of both people and government, it is frustrating to see that as a human being I am being treated like a world third class citizen.
