Campaign Story
On May 2020, at the height of coronavirus pandemic, my mother, Regina Bondoc, was diagnosed with a severe case of Aplastic Anemia (bone marrow failure), a rare and serious blood disorder in which her bone marrow fails to produce sufficient new blood cells. The only cure for this disease is a bone marrow transplant, at her age of 70, however, this is not feasible. The only alternative treatment that has high chance of survival due to her age is Anti-Thymocyte Globulin (ATG) treatment.
At the moment, she is on medication that helps to suppress her immune system and helps her bone marrow produce new cells, unfortunately, not everybody response to this treatment easily as this disease requires a long-term treatment. My mother survives in the past five (5) months by undergoing blood and platelet transfusion every 5 to 10 days which usually cost us SGD 1,200 (Php 40k+) with lots of laboratory test to perform but most of the time its more. Aside from the expensive oral medicine she’s taking (Cyclosporine and Revolade) that cost us to more than SGD 2,500 (Php 86k+)for only one-month supply of medicine.
This dreadful disease has many health complications. She is experiencing excessive fatigue (low hemoglobin), bruising, bleeding nose, gums and internal bleeding (low platelets) and recurring fever, colds, infection prone (low white cell count) that made her go in and out of the hospital.
We are knocking on your kind and generous heart to please help us raise the amount of SGD 50,000 to pursue the Anti-Thymocyte Globulin (ATG) treatment and continue her expensive long-term medication. Any small amount that comes from your heart is greatly appreciated. Thank you and God bless you
