I first thank God for his many merices He has bestowed on me. He has prepared me for such a time as this. His Grace is sufficient for me!!!!!!
Everyday I wake to see my beautiful family, my husband and children 3 and 4 years old is a gift from God. The peace of God is keeping me and my fighting spirit to overcome.
my name is Verniter Moore Reid, I am 39 years of age and I was diagnosed with Multiple slcerosis and Graves disease in May 2018. They are both autoimmune diseases, meaning my immune system mistakenly attacks my body resulting in a host of various symptoms.
My MRI in April 2018 showed innumerable amount of lesions in my brain, with only one currently active at this present time in the right lobe of the brain. I have several lesions throughout my C, T, and L spine, there are also lesions in my ear and optic nerve that are inactive (Thank God).
My neurologist could not understand how I could even be walking because the MRI results meant I had the disease almost 12 years from my first symtpom . At the time of the MRIs, I was suffering gait and inbalance issues, was advised to walk with a cane which I refused to . I suffered bouts of vertigo which left me incapacitated for a couple of hours at a time, I suffered bouts of double vision. Currently my legs are spastic, and I suffer left side weakness which is getting better, my walk pace slowed for the past three months but its getting better now. All praise to the The Most High My neurologist said I see patients with less lesions have more active lesion going on but its not so with you. I owe that all to God Almighty.
It was during my routine labs it was discovered that my tsh was abnormally low and t4 adn t3 were very high. I was referred to and endocrinologist whom diagnosed me with Graves disease with a large diffuse thyrotoixic goiter on thryoid scan. It was a confusing time for me, being able to tell which symptom was from which of the disease as they have similarities, but a resting heart rate of 115 in the office was defintely not a symptoms directly related to ms.
I am currently on antithyroid medications and beta blocker for my heart to slow the racing pulse.
I have a follow up visit at the end of this month to see if the meds are working (I am keeping my fingers crossed)
My family is my biggest support. I could not do it without them cheering me on . My little ones would say to me "mummy we know that you are slow now but we will help you "
I am able to walk much better, which was one of my major concern to able to still have some independence, Praise The Most High.
I am currently not on any MS medication until I pass a couple of blood work to see which treatment I would need to help slow the lesion overload in my brain or to travel out of the country to seek out other cutting edge interventions.
I thnak you all for reading my story. Please share my story as much as you can, help me fight these two auntoimmune diseases , pray for me and my family , and donate no matter how small. It would help me to continue my journey.
Everyday I am thankful to God that I can be able to get out of my bed and walk , help my children, because the disease is very unpredictable .
I keep praying fora miracle of total healing.
May the Grace of our Lord Jesus Christ rest and abide on all!!!!!!!!!
Life is about learning to cherish every moment granted to us, especially the sorrowful or ordinary ones because each moment that passes us by holds eternal weight.
God bless !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
