Fighting Leukemia with Baby Dixie

Good day to all of you. I am starting this fundraiser in order to raise funds for my niece, Baby Dixie. Dixie was only 3-years old when she was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) or cancer of the blood. Leukemia is one of the most common cancers that can affect children and is also one of the leading causes of death for children aged 1-5 years old. Her cancer story began when a doctor from our city advised us to go to Perpetual Succour Hospital (PSH), a hospital located in Cebu City that is known for being one of the best and more affordable cancer centers in Cebu. My brother was advised by the doctor to admit Baby Dixie in the hospital to complete the necessary tests which are estimated to take 4 days or more.

We were in the hospital for one week. And there, Baby Dix had to undergo a lot of tests including CBC, bone marrow aspiration and a lot more. It was then confirmed by the doctor that Baby Dix had leukemia. One week after, Dixie has just completed her first chemo and is already out of the hospital. However, she needs to comeback again every week as her chemotherapy is expected to last for 2 and a half years. Although my brother, Kent and his wife Rose Ann are employed, their income is not enough to cover the expenses that we will need for her chemotherapy.

At such a young age, Baby Dixie is facing the biggest battle of her life. Baby Dix is a warrior, a fighter and cancer is her enemy and we are her soldiers. Let's fight for and with her.

Cancer is just a battle. And battles have been won with greater odds.
